Job Description

Salary: $106,500 - 158,625 per year Requirements:

  • We require a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from a university eligible to qualify for the Professional Engineering exam, typically an ABET-accredited program or equivalent graduate degree.
  • Your degree should be in a calculus-based engineering discipline, with Electrical, Computer, Industrial, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering preferred.
  • For the Lead Engineer level, we look for 12 years of relevant engineering experience, or 11 years with a masters degree, or 10 years with a doctoral degree in a related engineering field.
  • For the Lead Engineer level, a Professional Engineer license is required, though 12 years of relevant experience may be considered in place of the license.
  • For the Sr. Engineer II level, we require 9 years of relevant engineering experience; a Professional Engineer license or advanced degree may count toward one year of experience, and two years of experience may satisfy both license and advanced degree requirements.
  • For the Sr. Engineer level, we require 5 years of relevant engineering experience; a Professional Engineer license or advanced degree may satisfy one year of the experience requirement.
  • We expect proficiency with administrative and communication tools, including word processing, spreadsheets, and timekeeping systems.
  • We need strong knowledge of power systems analysis tools used for steady-state, dynamic, short-circuit, or database management applications.
  • We value strong interpersonal skills, teamwork, and clear written and verbal communication.
  • We expect solid working knowledge of communication and data-handling software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
  • We require the ability to understand and follow our policies and procedures.
  • Preferred qualifications include a Professional Engineer license, an advanced degree, electric utility industry experience, and proficiency with power systems analysis tools, SQL, and scripting languages.

Responsibilities:
  • We perform advanced market analysis, including market-clearing engine sensitivity studies and database queries.
  • We support daily market operations such as repricing, model validation, and issue resolution.
  • We independently lead cross-functional initiatives and keep management informed of progress.
  • We support and test market software updates and respond to customer-reported issues.
  • We prepare and present market reports and analytical findings to internal teams, stakeholders, and working groups.
  • We train and mentor staff on market concepts, tools, and analytical methods.
  • We ensure compliance with our protocols and support regulatory and legal work, including FERC-related matters.
  • We maintain high-quality modeling and forecasting tools and help preserve the accuracy of our commercial model.
  • We contribute to public data postings and protect the integrity of POPS results.
