Job Description

Position Overview:

The General Manager will plan, manage, and oversee the daily operations of Midwest Pipe Coating to ensure annual strategic goals and objectives are achieved. The General Manager will ensure the safety and welfare of all employees and customers. In addition, this position will ensure customers receive a quality product, with timely completion, for a fair price. A key area of focus for this role is to provide direct support to the sales team with active involvement in contract negotiation, customer interaction and product delivery to ensure performance optimization.

Supervisory Responsibilities :

  • Identify and execute the business strategy to produce, sell, and manage the plant operations in a productive manner.
  • Manage all aspects of the facility including Safety, Quality Control, Plant Operations, Shipping & Receiving, Finance, Human Resources and Sales and Marketing departments; ensure the leadership team collaborates in an effective manner.
  • Direct the leadership team to ensure strategic alignment, objective setting and goal attainment, and the development of team members.
  • Participate in the interview, selection, and onboarding process for new hires.
  • Provide development and training opportunities to team members to ensure that the organization is proactively increasing capability and competence.
  • Provide constructive and timely performance feedback and reviews.
  • Engage the employees in a meaningful way to increase retention, reduce waste, and exceed productivity goals.
  • Organize and oversee the schedules and work of management team
  • Responsible for employee development, including disciplinary actions in accordance with company policy and practice.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the financial success of the organization.
  • Ensure all local, state, and federal regulatory policies and standards are met and adhered to.
  • Responsible for establishment and management of the sales and marketing performance objectives.
  • Effectively manage and resolve customer complaints when needed.
  • Forecast budgets on a quarterly and annual basis.
  • Proactively monitor production efficiencies and quality metrics to ensure that customer specifications are met.
  • Approve and direct plant upgrades aligned with the capital expenditures budget to optimize resources and production.
  • Manage and lead performance of the leadership team.
  • Manage and grow relationships with customers and clients to increase sales.
  • Measure productivity by analyzing performance data, financial data, and activity reports.
  • Collaborate with departments such as human resources, finance, and logistics to ensure production operations objectives are met or exceeded.
  • Determine labor needs to meet production goals and identify an efficient method to retain, attract, and engage employees.
  • Coordinate with marketing, sales, finance, and production departments to determine pricing, sales targets, sales promotions, and production capacity. Routinely measure against targets to understand progress to goal attainment.
  • Collaborate to update the organization’s operations manual and policies.
  • Travel expectations are estimated at 25%.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to present to large audiences in a clear and succinct manner.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • In-depth knowledge of various coating materials and sales strategies is preferred.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent combination of technical training and experience.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in sales with a proven track record of results.
  • A minimum of five years of plant management experience with exhibited solid business acumen.
