Beverage Director

Position Summary
Altura Hospitality Group is seeking a Beverage Director to oversee all beverage programming across Café Núñez, Buena Vista, Buena Vista East Village, Buena Vista Murray Hill, and Thomas Oliver's Gourmet Catering.
The Beverage Director will be responsible for developing and executing cocktail, wine, beer, and spirits programs that drive revenue, improve profitability, elevate guest experience, and strengthen each brand's identity. This individual will also support restaurant operations through periodic floor leadership and manager-on-duty responsibilities during key service periods and special events.
Key ResponsibilitiesBeverage Program Development
Create and maintain cocktail, wine, beer, and spirits programs across all company concepts.
Develop seasonal beverage menus and limited-time offerings.
Lead wine dinner programming, spirit tastings, and supplier events.
Create beverage pairings for restaurant and catering operations.
Build profitable beverage packages for Thomas Oliver's Gourmet Catering.
Revenue & Profitability
Increase beverage sales across all venues.
Analyze beverage mix, pricing, and profitability.
Manage beverage cost controls and inventory standards.
Develop strategies to increase average beverage spend per guest.
Identify trends and opportunities to improve margins.
Vendor & Supplier Relations
Maintain relationships with wineries, breweries, distilleries, and distributors.
Negotiate pricing, incentives, sponsorships, and promotional support.
Secure supplier participation for wine dinners and special events.
Source unique products that differentiate Altura Hospitality Group from competitors.
Training & Culture
Train bartenders, managers, and service teams on beverage knowledge and sales techniques.
Develop company beverage standards and service protocols.
Conduct regular beverage education sessions.
Mentor bar managers and beverage-focused team members.
Special Events & Marketing
Partner with ownership and marketing teams to promote beverage-driven experiences.
Execute monthly wine dinners, cocktail events, and guest bartender activations.
Assist with beverage-related social media content and promotional campaigns.
Represent the company at industry events and supplier functions.
Operational Support (Secondary Responsibility)
Act as Manager on Duty during select service periods and company events.
Support General Managers in maintaining hospitality standards.
Assist with guest relations and service recovery when needed.
Provide leadership support during openings, holidays, and high-volume periods.
Qualifications
5+ years of beverage management experience.
Strong wine, spirits, cocktail, and beer knowledge.
Multi-unit hospitality experience preferred.
Experience managing beverage costs, inventory, and menu engineering.
Strong leadership and training abilities.
Ability to work nights, weekends, wine dinners, and special events.
